The President signed the Law on the Privatization of Land for Non-Agricultural Purpose, which was approved by the Senate in May.
In accordance with the Law, land privatization is carried out in the form of:
-redemption of land plots that are on the basis of permanent use (possession) or inherited lifetime possession;
-sales of land through an electronic online auction.
Land plots can be privatized by individuals and legal entities – residents of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The law also defines what types of land cannot be the subject of privatization:
-located in territories that do not have approved and published layout plans;
-on which mineral deposits, strategic objects of state ownership are located and are not subject to privatization, the list of which is determined in accordance with the law;
-infected with hazardous substances and susceptible to biogenic infection;
-provided as parts of free economic and small industrial zones.
The Law comes into force on March 20, 2020.
