On May 13, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with a presentation on plans to increase coal production, the President\u2019s press service reports<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

To meet the growing needs of the population and the economy, all areas of energy are being developed. In particular, coal is the optimal source of energy in certain industries. According to estimates, our country’s coal reserves amount to almost 2 billion tons.<\/span><\/p>\n

These reserves are being gradually developed, and coal production volumes are consistently growing. In particular, if in 2016 this figure was less than 4 million tons per year, then in 2023 it reached 6 million 550 thousand tons.<\/span><\/p>\n

Earlier, the head of our state pointed out the need to attract investors to the fields and implement new projects. As a result, last year there were shifts in the process of attracting the private sector; entrepreneurs produced 369 thousand tons of coal.<\/span><\/p>\n

The presentation also provides information on work planned in the industry. It was noted that this year coal production is planned to be increased to 8 million tons, of which 900 thousand tons will be produced by entrepreneurs. The Shargunkumir joint-stock company will launch a coal enrichment plant with a capacity of 500 thousand tons per year.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Surkhandarya, Kashkadarya and Tashkent regions, geological work is being carried out in four areas; production is planned to be launched at them next year.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, using advanced foreign experience, work on assessing and drilling coal seams continues. As a result of these activities, it is planned to increase coal production to 10 million tons by 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

Responsible persons were given instructions on introducing international standards in the industry, improving the quality of coal and accelerating investment projects.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
