The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim held negotiations with the participation of official delegations of the two countries, the press service of the head of our state reports<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of the Malaysian government conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the leader of our state from the King of Malaysia Sultan Ibrahim, expressing sincere gratitude for the warm and hospitable welcome provided to the Malaysian delegation.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the negotiations, issues of further expansion of Uzbek-Malaysian friendly relations and multifaceted partnership were considered.<\/span><\/p>\n

The President of Uzbekistan emphasized that this high-level visit, which is the first in the last 16 years, opens a new era in the history of bilateral relations.<\/span><\/p>\n

– Malaysia is a dynamically developing state with great potential not only in the Southeast Asian region, but throughout the world. Our main goal is to bring practical cooperation with your country to a qualitatively new level, – the President of Uzbekistan emphasized.<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

The importance of further strengthening the political dialogue and inter-parliamentary relations, continuing mutual support within the framework of international organizations, implementing humanitarian and educational programs, and intensifying tourism and cultural exchange were noted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Particular attention is paid to issues of practical interaction in the trade, economic and investment spheres.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of last year, the volume of trade turnover more than doubled, the number of joint ventures is increasing, and the frequency of flights between Tashkent and Kuala Lumpur is increasing.<\/span><\/p>\n

The importance of ensuring further growth in volumes and achieving a balance in the indicators of mutual trade and the implementation of large joint projects was noted.<\/span><\/p>\n

Confidence was expressed that the results of the Uzbek-Malaysian business forum as part of the business program of the visit will serve to expand investment partnerships, cooperation of leading companies in the fields of innovation, industry, green energy, petrochemicals, electrical engineering and electronics, pharmaceuticals and other industries.<\/span><\/p>\n

In order to support these efforts, readiness was expressed to create an Uzbek-Malaysian industrial zone in our country.<\/span><\/p>\n

Issues of cooperation in agriculture were considered, including on the introduction of water-saving technologies, the cultivation and processing of fruits and vegetables, and certification according to Halal standards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Issues of expanding cooperation in the field of information technology, poverty reduction and transport connectivity were discussed.<\/span><\/p>\n

In order to systematically expand the trade and economic cooperation agenda, the need was stated to transform the existing joint Trade Committee into an Intergovernmental Commission with its first meeting to be held this year.<\/span><\/p>\n

The decisive attitude towards further intensification of cultural and humanitarian exchange was confirmed.<\/span><\/p>\n

The importance of increasing cooperation in training and advanced training of personnel in the fields of energy, Islamic finance, ecology, artificial intelligence, tourism, as well as strengthening scientific and practical ties in healthcare was emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n

The rapid growth in the flow of Malaysian tourists to Uzbekistan was noted with great satisfaction. Measures were discussed to implement joint pilgrimage tourism programs, including promoting the \u201cUmrah Plus\u201d project, to strengthen the dialogue between the youth of the two countries.<\/span><\/p>\n

The leaders also exchanged views on current issues of regional cooperation in Central and Southeast Asia and Afghan issues. We noted the high level of mutual understanding and the importance of continuing mutual support within the UN, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Non-Aligned Movement.<\/span><\/p>\n

It was proposed to consider the proposal to create a dialogue platform for foreign ministers in the \u201cCentral Asia plus ASEAN\u201d format.<\/span><\/p>\n

Following the negotiations, which took place in a trusting, open and friendly atmosphere, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Prime Minister of Malaysia signed a Joint Statement on deepening multifaceted cooperation.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
