As the Uzbek leader emphasized, the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia have played an important role in this process.

He particularly highlighted the historic significance of completing the procedure for concluding the Treaty of Friendship, Good-Neighborliness and Cooperation for the Development of Central Asia in the 21st Century.

It was emphasized that the regional process does not seek to create cumbersome structures.

“We need a flexible and clear format in which strong, sovereign and independent states cooperate on the basis of mutual respect, trust and pragmatism,” President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

The President of Uzbekistan then briefly assessed the complex international situation amid the growing rapprochement among the countries of Central Asia.

“The world is changing rapidly, tensions are rising, trade and transport links are being reconfigured, and new risks are emerging,” the head of state emphasized.

In this regard, he stressed the importance of even closer coordination of further joint efforts in particularly important areas of cooperation.

First and foremost, he put forward the idea of building a common space for cooperation with regions that have historical, economic and transport ties. He proposed using the emerging opportunity to make these ties much stronger and give them concrete substance through joint development of trade, transport, energy, industry and new technologies.

He proposed discussing these issues in detail at the international conference “Interregional Dialogue for Peace and Sustainable Connectivity: A Central Asian Approach,” which will be held in Tashkent next year.

The President stressed the need to strengthen the foundation of regional dialogue by continuing work to improve the regulatory and legal framework governing the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia.

Particular emphasis was placed on the need to bring economic cooperation to a new level.

“We have already set ambitious goals for increasing mutual trade and investment. Now we need to determine what will drive this growth,” the Uzbek leader noted.

A mechanism and tasks were outlined for establishing joint industrial and technological value chains, shared digital services and investment mechanisms that would enable the faster launch of major projects.

“We have already reached the point where ordinary trade among ourselves is no longer enough. We need to create the final product together. The formula ‘six economies – one product’ captures well the direction in which we should move,” the President said.

To develop this area, he proposed holding the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Business Forum in Khiva in 2027, as well as establishing a special Platform for Financial and Technical Support of Joint Investment Projects.

He stressed the need to instruct the Council of Ministers for Trade and Investment to consider this issue in detail at its next meeting in Ashgabat.

The President also highlighted the importance of developing connectivity among the countries of the region through a modern transport and logistics network.

“We can become one of the key land routes of global trade and, at the same time, a major center of economic activity. But simply building roads and railways is not enough. We need a common logic for the development of transport infrastructure,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.

Attention was drawn to the need to coordinate major projects so that they function as a single system.

“Along the new transport corridors, production facilities, logistics and service facilities, and industrial zones should emerge. Then the transport route will generate an economy around itself and deliver a much greater effect for every country through which it passes,” the head of state emphasized.

To this end, he proposed accelerating the establishment of the Council for Infrastructure Development and holding its first meeting in Uzbekistan.

Energy was highlighted separately, taking into account the fact that the region has diverse resources, ranging from hydrocarbons to significant potential in hydropower, solar and wind generation.

Given the important role of green development, the President initiated the preparation of a Joint Concept for Low-Carbon Energy Potential, which would enable better coordination of the construction of new generating capacity, the development of modern energy storage systems and the creation of new energy corridors.

Water and climate change were identified as another area requiring joint solutions. The need to introduce modern digital monitoring systems, modernize irrigation networks and widely use water-saving technologies was emphasized.

The President called for the full implementation of the joint initiative on the Decade of Practical Action for the Rational Use of Water in Central Asia.

In view of Uzbekistan assuming the chairmanship of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea next year, priorities were presented for improving the organization’s effectiveness, launching new environmental projects and attracting additional financing.

Particular attention was paid to establishing a permanent and substantive dialogue with Afghanistan on water resource use, taking into account the interests of all countries in the region.

Air pollution was identified as one of the serious challenges facing cities in the region. In response, the President proposed launching the International “Clean Air for Central Asia” Consortium, an initiative previously put forward by Uzbekistan. It was proposed to begin its activities with a pilot Program for the Environmental Modernization of Industrial Zones, Agroclusters and Transport Hubs in the countries of the region.

Another issue of rapidly growing importance is critical minerals. The President proposed intensifying efforts to establish the Regional Alliance on Critical Minerals, initiated by Uzbekistan, and, as one of the first steps, to create a Unified Digital Map of Critical Mineral Reserves in Central Asia.

The next major block of issues focused on technological development.

“Artificial intelligence and big data are already transforming industry, transport, energy, agriculture, education and public administration. The productivity of our economies and their ability to compete in the future will largely depend on these technologies,” the President of Uzbekistan emphasized.

In this regard, he proposed pooling the capabilities of the countries of the region and beginning the creation of a Common Computing Infrastructure based on an interconnected network of national data centers.

People were identified as the most important factor for the future of the region.

“Our countries have significant demographic potential. The population is growing, the number of young people is increasing, and the quality of their education and professional training will largely determine what the region’s economy will look like in ten, twenty and thirty years,” the head of state emphasized.

Based on an analysis of which specialists will be needed by the economies of the countries in the region in the future, he proposed developing a Regional Atlas of In-Demand Professions and Competencies. It would bring together forecasts for areas where there is already a shortage of specialists and where demand is expected to grow in the coming years.

On this basis, universities and vocational education institutions would be able to anticipate the real needs of the economy and train personnel for specific major projects in industry, transport, energy, digital technologies and other sectors.

Concluding his address, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that much had been achieved in recent years. He stressed that it is now important to consolidate these achievements and make regional cooperation sustainable for decades to come.

“The formula is simple: solidarity and trust for the sake of development and security. We are responsible for the kind of region we leave to future generations. It must be peaceful, secure, economically strong and provide people with opportunities to live, work, study and raise their children with dignity,” the President of Uzbekistan emphasized.

The leaders of the Central Asian states and Azerbaijan also addressed the summit. The heads of state adopted a Joint Statement following the meeting and signed a decision on a number of multilateral regulatory documents.

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in the eighth Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, held on October 8 in…

[3

post-17566","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-novosti-uzbekistana
["GET
