On August 23, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the press service of the head of state reports<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The issues of further development of mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries were discussed.<\/span><\/p>\n

The significant progress in implementing the agreements reached following the summit meetings in June this year was noted with satisfaction.<\/span><\/p>\n

In early August, a regular meeting of the joint Intergovernmental commission and the first meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Transport of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey were held productively.<\/span><\/p>\n

The mutual trade turnover has increased by 70% this year. The implementation of joint cooperation projects in agriculture, sericulture and textile industry, mechanical engineering, chemical and other industries has begun. At present, the efforts on early implementation of the Uzbek-Azerbaijani investment fund are being made. The cultural and humanitarian exchange is expanding.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Presidents called for further expansion of practical cooperation. In this context, the importance of holding a Forum of Regions and an exhibition of the industrial potential of the two countries was noted.<\/span><\/p>\n

There was also an exchange of views on the regional agenda. The schedule and agenda of upcoming multilateral meetings, including the forthcoming summits of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the Organization of Turkic States in Samarkand, were considered.<\/span><\/p>\n
