According to “Gazeta.uz”<\/a>, the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan and the Russian Gazprom signed a road map for cooperation in the gas industry. A week earlier, Gazprom signed a similar document with Kazakhstan. In November, Russia proposed to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to create a “tripartite gas union”.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov and the head of the Russian Gazprom Alexei Miller on Tuesday signed a road map for cooperation in the gas industry, the company’s press service reported<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the meeting, the parties “considered current and promising issues of interaction”, the message says.<\/span><\/p>\n

The details of the document are not given.<\/span><\/p>\n

A week earlier, Gazprom signed a road map with Kazakhstan. The document concerned the possibilities of Russian gas supplies to Kazakhstan.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Triple Alliance”<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of November 2022, it became known that Russia proposed to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan to create a “tripartite gas union”. The Russian side stated<\/a> that this proposal does not imply the supply of gas in exchange for political conditions, but it is about the coordination of commercial interests.<\/span><\/p>\n

Energy Minister Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov in December, against the background of the energy crisis that began in Uzbekistan with the onset of cold weather, said<\/a> that Uzbekistan was negotiating to import gas from its neighbors – as part of a commercial contract, and not through “some kind of alliance or union.”<\/span><\/p>\n
