On May 3, negotiations between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier were held at the Bellevue Palace in Berlin, the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports<\/a>.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

At the beginning of the meeting, the head of our state thanked the Federal President for the invitation to pay a visit to Germany and the cordial welcome.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Presidents noted with satisfaction the unprecedented dynamics in the development of the Uzbek-German multifaceted cooperation. Intensive political, humanitarian and business contacts continue. The parties provide mutual support within the framework of authoritative international institutions, including the United Nations.<\/span><\/p>\n

A common opinion was expressed on the importance of bringing bilateral relations to a higher level.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Presidents considered the issues of expanding trade, economic, investment and technological cooperation, and identified priority areas for practical cooperation.<\/span><\/p>\n

So, in recent years, trade turnover and the number of joint projects have doubled. The volume of German investments in our economy is 5.5 billion euros, including 4 billion euros attracted over the previous few years.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Presidents welcomed the results of the business events, in which trade contracts and investment technology agreements worth more than 9 billion euros were concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n

Berlin highly appreciates the efforts of Uzbekistan to ensure stability and prosperity in the Central Asian region.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this context, Germany expressed its readiness to support regional connectivity projects, including within the framework of the EU Global Gateway Initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n

Interest was expressed in strengthening partnership in the field of ensuring regional security, countering modern challenges and threats, primarily in the context of the situation in Afghanistan.<\/span><\/p>\n

The importance of continuing targeted humanitarian assistance to the Afghan people, including using the capabilities of the established infrastructure in the border city of Termez, was emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n

Particular attention is paid to the issues of cultural and humanitarian exchange. The leaders welcomed the opening of a unique exhibition of the cultural and historical heritage of Uzbekistan in the city of Berlin.<\/span><\/p>\n

An agreement was reached on the preparation of a comprehensive program for the study of the German language in Uzbekistan, including by expanding the activities of the Goethe Institute in the regions of our country.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the end of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Frank-Walter Steinmeier to pay a visit to our country.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
