On June 1, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the delegation of the Republic of Korea headed by Minister of Foreign Affairs Pak Chin, who is in our country on an official visit. This was reported<\/a> by the press service of the head of our state.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Topical issues of further strengthening the Uzbek-South Korean relations of friendship and a special strategic partnership, building up full-scale cooperation, primarily in the trade, economic, investment, financial and technical fields, were discussed.<\/span><\/p>\n

At the beginning of the meeting, Minister of Foreign Affairs Pak Chin conveyed to the leader of our country the sincere greetings and best wishes of the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Seok Yeol.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the conversation, the deep historical ties, similar mentality, traditions and moral values of the two friendly peoples were especially noted.<\/span><\/p>\n

The importance of continuing the traditionally close and constructive political dialogue, mutual support within the framework of international organizations, including the United Nations and the World Trade Organization, was emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n

Topical issues on the international and regional agenda were also considered.<\/span><\/p>\n

The President of our country dwelled separately on the issues of bilateral economic cooperation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last year, trade between Uzbekistan and South Korea increased by 24 percent. The volume of assimilated investments of Korean companies exceeds 7 billion dollars.<\/span><\/p>\n

The portfolio of promising projects with a total value of over $5 billion covers such areas as green energy, digital technologies, mechanical engineering, chemical industry, electrical and textile industries, infrastructure development, urban planning and many others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Interest was noted in strengthening cooperation ties with leading South Korean companies, which are important investment and technology partners of Uzbekistan.<\/span><\/p>\n

The need to accelerate the implementation of socially significant, strategic projects for the construction of an adult multidisciplinary hospital of the fourth level, an oncological clinic, a pharmaceutical cluster and a medical university was emphasized.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among the priorities are the creation of an innovative semiconductor cluster and the development of the Center for Rare Metals and Alloys.<\/span><\/p>\n

Special attention is paid to the further support of the large Korean diaspora in Uzbekistan, which celebrated the 85th anniversary of living in our country last year, including the expansion of the activities of the House of Korean Culture and Art in Tashkent.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
