On April 15, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the State of Qatar led by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the press service of the head of our state reports.
The Qatari delegation is in our country to participate in the next meeting of the foreign ministers of the countries of the dialogue “Central Asia – Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf”.
Prime Minister Muhammad Al Thani conveyed the greetings and best wishes of the Emir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to the leader of Uzbekistan.
Topical issues of further expansion of bilateral cooperation were discussed, primarily in the trade, economic, investment and transport and communications spheres.
The head of our state noted with particular satisfaction the observed intensive political dialogue and the dynamic growth in the volume of mutual trade and investment.
Major investment projects are being implemented with the participation of leading Qatari companies. Events are being held within the framework of cultural and humanitarian exchange. In October, Uzbekistan will host Qatar Culture Week.
The importance of promoting joint investment projects and the speedy creation of effective mechanisms for their financial support were emphasized.
Issues of accelerating the practical implementation of the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project were considered.
There was also a thorough exchange of views on regional issues, including the serious escalation of the situation in the Middle East.
