On October 11, the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade held a meeting with a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development headed by Vice President Matteo Patrone, the press service of the Ministry reports.
Laziz Kudratov highly appreciated the role of the EBRD as a key partner in promoting the economic development of Uzbekistan and congratulated Matteo Patrone on his appointment as the Bank’s Vice President.
A qualitatively new level of cooperation with the EBRD, observed in recent years, has been noted. To date, the joint portfolio includes 39 projects worth €4.3 billion in the field of water supply, sewerage, irrigation, agriculture, education, transport, road reconstruction, and support for small and medium-sized businesses.
The parties also considered promising areas for further development of cooperation. 8 projects worth €1,043 million in the field of water supply, education, energy, road reconstruction, transport and solid waste disposal are under development.
During the constructive exchange of views, measures were agreed to attract technical and advisory support from the EBRD for the development and implementation of new public-private partnership projects in the fields of infrastructure development, health, education, water supply and road modernization. Representatives of the Bank also expressed their readiness to expand support for projects in the field of energy and renewable energy sources and other priority projects in Uzbekistan.
Following the results of the negotiations, the parties confirmed their commitment to further strengthen and expand partnership relations, actively continue joint work in all available areas of multifaceted cooperation.
