Leading Pakistani sugar producer and supplier explores opportunities to invest in Uzbekistan

With the assistance of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad, an online meeting was held between representatives of the Pakistani company “Almoiz Industries”, headed by Vice President Iftikhar Babar, and representatives of ministries and departments of Uzbekistan, the correspondent of “Dunyo” news agency reports.

“Almoiz Industries” is one of the leading sugar producers and suppliers in Pakistan.

During the conversation, the parties discussed in detail the conditions and possibilities for growing raw sugar in Uzbekistan. In particular, the director of the department of the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Abduzukurov, acquainted the Pakistani side with lands suitable for growing sugar beets in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the Khorezm region.

The Pakistani side was acquainted with information on the annual demand for sugar in Uzbekistan, the current situation with sugar supplies from Brazil, customs duties and excise tax rates for sugar imports and other necessary information.

As a result of the negotiations, the Pakistani side expressed its intention to invest in one of the “Angren-Shakar” or “Khorazm-Shakar” sugar factories or consider building a new sugar factory.

Representatives of “Almoiz Industries” expressed their readiness to visit Uzbekistan in the near future for a detailed study of the issues discussed, meetings with interested ministries and familiarization with the activities of sugar factories.
