Uzbekistan and China agreed to build 11 more power plants

Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the introduction of renewable energy sources in budgetary institutions, Spot reports with reference to the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

According to the green energy development program adopted in February, it is planned to install photo panels with a total capacity of 220 MW on the buildings of government agencies and social facilities. Now 107 MW devices are ready, which is almost half of what was planned.

While large state-owned companies are rapidly introducing solar energy, work has slowed down in social institutions. So, 36% of the planned number of panels have now been installed in universities, a third in schools, and 28% in medical institutions.

In total, a little more than a quarter of the planned volume of renewable energy capacities has been installed in Tashkent, while the figure for Uzbekistan is about 50%. The President instructed to speed up work in this direction.

The meeting also touched upon the implementation of agreements on the construction of commercial solar and wind power plants. By the end of the year, it is planned to launch “green” capacities for 2,000 MW.

In addition, as the part of Mirziyoyev’s visit to China, agreements were reached on the construction of 11 more solar power plants and wind farms. Their total capacity will be 4.8 GW, and the volume of investments will be $4.4 billion.
