Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtayev discussed trade and economic relations with the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Pakistani city of Guzhranwala, the correspondent of ‘Dunyo’ news agency reports.
The event was attended by the ambassadors of Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan to Pakistan, businessmen who are members of the Guzhranwala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), heads and students of higher educational institutions of the region, agents of travel companies, and media representatives.
Opening the event, GCCI President Muhammad Siddique Khan noted that Guzhranwala is one of the industrial, trade and business centers of Pakistan, and the city’s production potential and the attention paid to the development of small and medium businesses serve to ensure the economic growth of the country and the region. It was emphasized that the city has a high level of production potential in metallurgy, mechanical engineering, food, furniture and other industries.
“Our Chamber has sufficient potential to start a new era of trade and economic relations with the countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan. This region attracts the attention of entrepreneurs from Guzhranvala with its enormous resources, opportunities for entrepreneurship, large market and geo-economic strategic position. We are ready to increase trade turnover with these countries, strengthen investment cooperation and support new business initiatives”, – he said.
Speaking at the forum, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtayev told the participants in detail about the results of the development of trade and economic relations with Pakistan, upcoming plans to increase trade volumes, promising areas of economic diplomacy, and mutually beneficial joint projects.
“Effective cooperation has been established between our countries in the fields of agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals and chemistry, and significant progress has been made. Now we need to actively work on activating ties in new industries – building materials, animal husbandry, home textiles, household appliances, agricultural machinery, tourism. The industrial exhibition “Made in Uzbekistan”, which will be held on February 11-13, and the B2B and G2B negotiations planned within its framework will create a convenient platform for the development of joint projects not only in traditional but also in new areas”, – the diplomat noted.
The Ambassador of Uzbekistan also spoke about the benefits provided to foreign investments in our country and the opportunities created in free economic zones. He also informed about Pakistani businessmen who are implementing their projects in our country and are currently achieving success and good financial results.
As part of the event, an official opening ceremony of the Department for the Promotion of Trade Relations with Central Asian Countries and Azerbaijan was held at GCCI. An information corner has been created here, where information bulletins, brochures, handouts, commercial offers and books about the business environment of Uzbekistan, the results of the development of the national economy, the potential of our country in various fields are posted.
After that, the participants of the event visited the Gujranwala Business Center and discussed with its management the prospects for cooperation, including the implementation of joint programs for the development of business skills among youth and women.
Representatives of the diplomatic corps in Pakistan got acquainted with the permanent industrial exhibition “Made in Gujranwala”, organized in the building of the Center.
