On March 5, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of Georgia led by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, who is in our country on an official visit, the press service of the head of our state reports.
At the beginning of the meeting, the distinguished guest conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes to the Head of our state from the President of Georgia Mikheil Kavelashvili.
The issues of expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, economic, investment, transport and logistics, tourism and cultural spheres were discussed.
The intensification of contacts at the level of parliaments and governments was noted with particular satisfaction. In 2024, mutual trade turnover increased by 50 percent, the number of joint ventures and cargo turnover increased. Direct flights are carried out between the capitals. A digital bank created with the participation of Georgian investors operates in our country. In the humanitarian dimension, the Days of Uzbek Culture and Cinema were successfully held in the city of Tbilisi last year.
During the conversation, the fruitful results of the regular meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, which took place these days in Tashkent, were highly appreciated.
The importance of taking coordinated measures to maintain the dynamics of trade turnover, ensure a balance between exports and imports, promote industrial cooperation projects, effectively use transport and transit potential, as well as actively involve the regions of the two countries in economic cooperation was noted.
Special attention was paid to expanding partnerships and exchanges in the field of digitalization and development of tourism infrastructure.
It was agreed to further close cooperation at the level of the governments of Uzbekistan and Georgia in order to practically implement the agreements reached.
