On November 26, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on measures to develop the investment climate and business environment, improve the well-being of the population in the Namangan region, the press service of the head of our state reports.
Over the past ten months, 681 projects have been implemented in the region, 21 thousand jobs have been created. Products worth more than 21 trillion soums have been manufactured, of which 702 million dollars have been exported. By the end of the year, the region’s economy is expected to grow by 8 percent.
Now it is necessary to determine goals for the next year. In this regard, working groups are being sent to all districts, proposals from entrepreneurs are being studied and plans are being formed.
Opportunities for the implementation of 182 new projects worth 527 million dollars have been identified in the Namangan region. For example, if the small industrial zone in the Barkamol avlod mahalla of the city of Namangan is expanded, a leather and footwear enterprise worth 60 million dollars can be located. The creation of such a zone in the Namangan massif in Mingbulak will create conditions for the implementation of industrial projects worth 25 million dollars.
An entrepreneur from the Papsky district, together with American partners, proposed investing 80 million dollars and processing 1.8 million tons of fluorite stone per year. As a result, 200 jobs and the possibility of exporting 70 million dollars will appear. Another enterprise expressed a desire to invest 40 million dollars in growing medicinal plants on 5 thousand hectares, producing confectionery products and organizing a tourist center.
In this area, on lands with access to groundwater, it is possible to grow rice, grain, medicinal and forage crops, and around the drainage wells in the Naryn district – to breed fish. In Chorkesar, Zarkent and Isparan, with improved irrigation and the allocation of land to livestock breeders, it will be possible to raise 100 thousand heads of cattle and goats.
The organization of dual education in the Yangikurgan Agricultural College together with the potato center will serve to train both qualified specialists and produce basic food products. Thanks to cooperation with beekeeping farms, it is possible to organize beekeeping in households and provide additional income to the population.
At the meeting, the khokim of the Namangan region presented plans for the implementation of such opportunities. In particular, it was noted that in 2025, it is planned to attract 4.2 billion dollars in investments to the Namangan region, create 34 thousand jobs and ensure exports worth 1 billion dollars.
It is expected that by the end of the year, the poverty level in the region will decrease to almost 8 percent. In 2025, it is planned to reduce this figure to 5.3 percent, lifting 78 thousand people out of poverty. It is also planned to employ about 100 thousand people who have returned from labor migration abroad within the country.
The head of state gave instructions to support the initiatives of entrepreneurs, create conditions for their projects, and include in investment programs the necessary funds for the development of industrial infrastructure. The importance of accelerating the implementation of projects in small industrial zones, attracting the population to entrepreneurship and providing employment was emphasized.
