Promising directions for the development of trade and investment cooperation were discussed in London

A round table was held in the capital of Great Britain on the topic “Opening new horizons: new economic opportunities in cooperation between Great Britain and Uzbekistan”, which was attended by more than 60 representatives of parliamentary, government and business circles, the correspondent of “Dunyo” news agency reports.

The event was organized by the Embassy of Uzbekistan and the large association “Institute of Directors” (IoD), which unites more than 25 thousand British companies and entrepreneurs in various sectors of the economy.

For the forum participants, the diplomatic mission organized a detailed presentation about Uzbekistan with a focus on the processes of modernization and economic liberalization of the country, favorable opportunities for trade, economic and investment cooperation, including the expansion of exports of Uzbek products to the British market.

Lord John Waverly, Member of the British Parliament, speaking at the round table, praised the broad and effective reform program in Uzbekistan, calling on the assembled representatives of British business to pay attention to the economic prospects in the country.

In turn, the head of the department of the Ministry of Business and Trade of Great Britain Simon Mellon noted the progressive dynamics of bilateral trade, confirmed the interest of the British side in building up cooperation with Uzbekistan in various sectors of the economy.

Separately, the possibility of expanding mutual trade was noted, taking into account the inclusion of Uzbekistan in the list of beneficiary countries of the DCTS Trade Scheme for Developing Countries, thanks to which goods produced by domestic enterprises can be exported to the UK market at a zero or low rate of import duty.

The heads of British companies already operating in the country, Sturgeon Capital (information technology) and Moneff (fintech), also shared their experience of successfully doing business in Uzbekistan.
