The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister and the Director of Invest Hong Kong

On October 24, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting between Deputy Minister Shokhrukh Gulamov and Ms. Alfa Lau, Director of the Investment Promotion Agency of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region – Invest Hong Kong (InvestHK), the press service of the Ministry reports.

InvestHK is a government agency established in 2000 to attract foreign direct investment, support international companies, and strengthen Hong Kong’s position as a global financial center.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for expanding investment and economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hong Kong. Special attention was given to the preparation of agreements on the avoidance of double taxation and mutual protection of investments, which will establish a solid legal foundation for long-term partnership.

The sides also reviewed initiatives to launch direct Tashkent–Hong Kong flights, open a representative office of the Ministry in Hong Kong, and establish a branch of a Hong Kong-based bank in Tashkent, as well as practical aspects of organizing a visit of the Uzbek delegation to Hong Kong to deepen cooperation.

Both parties expressed mutual interest in developing business relations and agreed to continue joint efforts toward the implementation of the discussed initiatives.
