On July 15 of this year, the fourth meeting of the Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan Business Council was held at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry reports.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan Dilshod Rasulov, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Turkmenistan Mergen Gurdov and representatives of the business circles of the two countries.
It is worth noting that this council of businessmen was created in Tashkent in April 2018 and is aimed at deepening cooperation between the business circles of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in trade and investment, transport and logistics, as well as in various sectors of the economy.
Issues of cooperation in the field of industry and transport, textile industry, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, as well as agriculture between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan were discussed. Issues of establishing cooperative relations between business representatives of the two countries by ensuring negotiations in the ‘‘B2B’’ format were also discussed.
At the end of 2023, the volume of trade between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan exceeded $1 billion. This figure is five times higher than trade volume in 2017. Of these, exports amounted to more than $170 million, and imports amounted to more than $923 million. There are 187 enterprises in Uzbekistan with the participation of Turkmen capital.
