In the first half of 2024, 190,336 passenger cars were produced in Uzbekistan, Spot reports, citing the Statistics Agency.
Production volumes increased by 17.8% compared to the same period a year ago. At the same time, in June, the local auto industry produced 33.5 thousand cars – 18.5% less than the same month in 2023.
Cobalt remains the production leader – 72,948 units (+47.5%) since the beginning of the year. Of these, 15.4 thousand cars rolled off the assembly lines over the past month, and the increase compared to last June exceeded 1.5 times.
Also, over six months, 38,953 Damas cars were produced, or 11.5% more than last year. However, production rates in June fell by 5% – to 7.7 thousand cars per month.
In third place is the Tracker crossover – 21,497 cars (+42.6%), with a decrease of almost three times in the first month of summer, to 2,218 units. In addition, since the beginning of the year, 17.4 thousand Onix (+55%) have been produced, although in June the number of new cars fell by 40% – to 2.5 thousand.
Production of Lacetti-Gentra, which was supposed to be curtailed in the spring, decreased by 66% – to 12.6 thousand cars. In June, 722 cars were produced – 12 times less than a year earlier.
The largest automobile plant after UzAuto Motors remains ADM Jizzakh, which has produced 9,270 KIA and 4,160 Chery cars since the beginning of the year. At the same time, the performance of the Korean brand in June remained at an average level (1837 cars), and Chery’s production decreased to 160 cars.
Also, in June, 312 Haval vehicles were assembled in Uzbekistan – more than in the previous months of work. At the same time, Exeed production was reduced to two cars.
