On measures to accelerate the development of livestock industries in the Republic of Karakalpakstan

The Presidential Decree “On measures to accelerate the development of livestock industries in the Republic of Karakalpakstan” was adopted with a view to specializing in livestock breeding in the Bozatau, Muinak, Takhtakupyr and Kungrad districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, putting into operation modern livestock complexes in these areas, and improving the level of supply of the population with livestock products, especially meat and dairy products, due to the efficient use of pastures.

According to the Decree, as an exception, without a tender and auction, the following are allocated:

irrigated land – for livestock rearing in an industrial way;

pastures and hayfields – for cattle grazing;

infertile irrigated land plots – for the construction of buildings and structures of livestock complexes, processing of livestock products, and production of animal feed.

Also, as an exception, the State Fund for Entrepreneurship Support simultaneously with compensation gives a guarantees to the initiators of projects for grazing small and cattle in an industrial way, including on pastures and hayfields, for the production of livestock feed, as well as for processing livestock products.

Only fodder crops will be placed on the lands used. Personal responsibility for this, as well as systemic deliveries to livestock farms and the population of the cultivated crop, lies with the district khokims.

The state will also help with drilling water wells: 50% of the costs will be financed by the republican budget, the rest – the local budget of Karakalpakstan.

Since 2020, the state also incurs the costs of vaccination against theileriosis found in cattle in Karakalpakstan – they will be covered at the expense of the State budget.
