The World Bank will provide a loan of $ 500 million to Uzbekistan

The World Bank will allocate a loan of $ 500 million to Uzbekistan as part of the The Development Policy Loan (DPL) . The loan is provided for the development of a market economy, private sector and job creation.

“DPL will provide additional support to the government of the country at a critical moment when the direction of reforms shifts from regulatory changes to more complex institutional changes in the country’s economic system, necessary for the development of the private sector, creating additional jobs and ensuring greater social integration of the most vulnerable population into a transforming national economy, ”said Hideki Mori, head of the World Bank’s office in Uzbekistan.

The goal of the DPL is to support government efforts in areas such as increasing foreign trade and foreign investment, increasing the efficiency of the financial sector, and implementing key institutional reforms that are crucial to the transition to a market economy.
