On September 7, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the Republic of Korea headed by the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy and Finance of this country Chhu Kyung Ho, the press service of the head of our state reports.
Issues of further strengthening the Uzbek-South Korean relations of a special strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation were considered.
At the beginning of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Choo Kyung-ho conveyed the sincere greetings and best wishes of the President of the Republic of Korea Yoon Seok-yeol to the head of our state.
During the conversation, with particular satisfaction, the consistent development of bilateral ties was noted, based on deep historical ties of friendship, similar mentality, traditions and values.
The President of Uzbekistan dwelled separately on the formation of a new economic agenda for full-scale cooperation with South Korea.
In recent years, indicators of mutual trade and investment have been steadily growing. Last year, trade increased by 24 percent. There are about 1,000 joint ventures operating in our country, and the volume of Korean investments has exceeded $7 billion.
A high assessment was given to the long-term fruitful partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency, the Korea Eximbank and its funds, the total portfolio of projects with which is more than $3 billion.
Among the successfully implemented joint projects are a children’s multidisciplinary clinic, a textile technopark, centers for agricultural engineering and rare metals.
The expansion of technological and investment partnerships with leading South Korean companies, the acceleration of socially significant programs in the field of education and healthcare, the promotion of joint projects in the field of infrastructure, green energy, public administration, the financial sector, digitalization and training of personnel have been identified as priority areas for practical cooperation.
The ample opportunities for establishing productive contacts between the regions of the two countries and intensifying cultural and humanitarian exchanges were emphasized.
