A delegation from Uzbekistan, headed by representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of our country, took part in the forum “The Path to Global Markets: IPO and Eurobonds”, held in London on November 11-14, the correspondent of ‘‘Dunyo’’ news agency reports.
The event was attended by such economic structures as the London Stock Exchange, British companies ‘‘Franklin Templeton Investments’’, ‘‘PwC’’, ‘‘Barclays’’, ‘‘Deutsche Bank’’, ‘‘Citibank’’, ‘‘J.P.Morgan’’, ‘‘WOOD&Co’’, ‘‘Santander’’,‘‘Fieldfisher’’, as well as ‘‘UzAssaets’’, OAJ ‘‘Navoiy KMK’’, ‘‘Uzmetkombinat’’, ‘‘UzAutoMotors’’, ‘‘Uztransgaz’’, ‘‘Uzneftegaz’’, ‘‘Uzbekinvest’’ kompaniyalari va ‘‘Sanoatqurilishbank’’, ‘‘Aloqabank’’, ‘‘Biznesni Rivojlantirish Banki’’ and others.
At the event, the British side was presented with information on large-scale reforms being carried out in Uzbekistan, including measures being implemented to support the development of the national economy, opportunities created for foreign investors, as well as laws adopted to ensure their rights.
Presentations of specific investment projects in the areas of renewable energy were held energy, chemical industry, metallurgy, electrical engineering, pharmaceuticals, food industry and education.
The participants noted that the investment environment in Uzbekistan has improved significantly in recent years, and the interest of international companies in doing business in our country is growing. In this regard, financial and banking, educational, environmental, large state-owned companies of Great Britain expressed interest in participating in the privatization process.
Following the forum, agreements were reached on preparation, together with the London Stock Exchange, for the sale of securities of large industrial enterprises of the republic and the holding of an IPO (the first public sale of shares of a joint-stock company, including in the form of sale of depositary receipts for shares, to an unlimited number of persons).
An agreement was also reached on the provision of specific proposals from the foreign side and their development with the relevant ministries and departments of the republic.
