On March 3 of this year, Laziz Kudratov, the Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, met with Huseyn Guliyev, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Uzbekistan, the press service of the Ministry reports.
During the discussions, both parties examined strategies for the timely implementation of existing agreements, as well as the potential for enhancing trade, economic, and investment cooperation. They emphasized the importance of actively involving representatives from the business sectors of both countries in this process.
In particular, the parties discussed issues related to the implementation of previously agreed-upon projects in urban development, tourism, and agriculture. In addition to defining complex tasks to expedite ongoing work, they agreed on forthcoming joint steps to support new investment initiatives.
Positive dynamics in the realm of investment cooperation have been observed. Currently, 257 enterprises with Azerbaijani investments are operating in Uzbekistan, which includes 56 joint ventures and 201 enterprises with 100 percent Azerbaijani capital. Recognizing the significant potential for further growth in these indicators, both parties have agreed to promote promising projects among the business communities of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
The parties also reached an agreement on mutual measures to convene the 14th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation in the first half of this year, along with other events outlined in the bilateral agenda for Uzbek-Azerbaijani multifaceted cooperation.
