It is reported on employment, investment and export indicators

On March 4, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got familiarized with the report on poverty reduction and employment, as well as investment and export indicators, the press service of the head of our state reports.

A new system for promoting employment has been introduced since the beginning of this year. Cooperation agreements in this area have been signed between 208 khokims of districts and cities and heads of banks. Bank branches have created departments to work in mahallas and appointed ‘mahalla bankers’.

As a result, 239 thousand people were involved in labor activity in January, and 480 thousand in February. Since the beginning of the year, small and medium businesses have been allocated loans for a total of 14 trillion soums, including 2 trillion soums within the framework of entrepreneurial programs.

The population is informed about income generation opportunities, ready-made business projects are offered and training events are held on their implementation. The fact of employment is confirmed by the tax authorities, and regular monitoring of the execution of tasks assigned to responsible persons is carried out.

The results of the analysis were presented at the meeting.

High employment rates were recorded in the Jizzakh, Samarkand, Bukhara and Navoi regions, as well as within the framework of the projects of the National Bank, ‘Asakabank’, ‘Microcreditbank’ and the Business Development Bank.

However, in the Syrdarya region, as well as in 24 districts and cities, the results were unsatisfactory. Therefore, appropriate measures were taken with respect to 30 managers who allowed low efficiency in completing tasks.

It was emphasized that, based on the accumulated experience, in the coming months it is necessary to improve the efficiency of work, orient the unemployed towards vocational training and income-generating work. Instructions were given to ensure the planting of crops on all household plots and leased lands in the current spring season, tracking the process through the online-mahalla.uz platform.

Over the past two months, investment and export indicators have shown positive dynamics. Since the beginning of the year, over 6 billion dollars of foreign investment and loans have been utilized. 1.1 thousand small and medium projects worth 574 million dollars were implemented, which allowed to create more than 17 thousand new jobs.

Exports of goods and services amounted to 2.8 billion dollars: jewelry exports increased 7 times compared to last year, in the chemical industry – 1.7 times, in electrical engineering and food industry – 1.2 times, and in the tourism services sector – 1.6 times.

International standards have been implemented at 132 enterprises, and 521 enterprises entered the foreign market for the first time, exporting 183 million dollars in February.

It was noted at the meeting that investment indicators remain low in some industries and regions, and the reasons for this phenomenon, as well as ways to eliminate them, were discussed.

The new Deputy Prosecutor General of the Republic of Uzbekistan Dilmurod Kasimov was introduced, who will be responsible for supervision in the field of protecting the legal rights and interests of entrepreneurs and investors. It was noted that now the prosecutor’s office will play an important role in creating a favorable legal climate in this area.

Responsible persons reported on plans to develop more than 8 billion dollars of foreign investment based on the results of the first quarter and additional opportunities for export.
