Uzbek-Turkmen negotiations were fruitfully held in Samarkand

On April 24, at the Congress Center of the Silk Road Samarkand Complex, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held talks in a narrow format and with the participation of official delegations, the press service of the head of our state reports.

At the beginning of the meeting, the leader of Turkmenistan conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the head of our state.

Current issues of further development and strengthening of Uzbek-Turkmen relations of friendship, good-neighborliness and strategic partnership were discussed.

The dynamic development of multifaceted cooperation in all areas of interaction, including in the political, inter-parliamentary, trade and economic, transport and communication
and cultural and humanitarian spheres were noted with deep satisfaction.

Fruitful dialogue is maintained at all levels. Meetings of the Intergovernmental Commission, the Business Council, the Forum of Regions, cultural days, exhibitions, etc. are held regularly. Last year, mutual trade turnover amounted to 1.1 billion dollars. Trading houses have been established in the capitals, and cargo transportation volumes are growing. The task has been set to increase trade volumes to 2 billion dollars in the coming years.

Mutually beneficial cooperation is developing in the fields of energy, transport, agriculture and water management, and other sectors of the economy. The Shavat-Dashoguz border trade zone is being jointly created.

Active interregional contacts have been established, and a rich program of cultural and humanitarian exchange is being implemented.

An agreement has been reached to hold the third Forum of Regions in the city of Khiva and the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan this year.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan also exchanged views on the regional partnership agenda, including the preparation of the upcoming summits in the “Central Asia Plus” format and the Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia in Tashkent.

The head of our state especially noted the importance of the upcoming Forum in Ashgabat in December this year within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust, declared by the General Assembly of the United Nations
on the initiative of Turkmenistan, as well as other international events.

During the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan presented the National Leader of the Turkmen people with a copy of his book “Pearl of Reason” in the Uzbek language, published in our country.
