The head of the MIIT took part in a meeting of the Uzbek-Iranian IGC

On May 10, the 16th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran was held in Tehran, the press service of the MIIT reports.

The delegations were led by Mr. Laziz Kudratov, Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Mr. Mohammad Atabak, Minister of Mines, Industry and Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The official agenda was preceded by a bilateral meeting between the heads of delegation, during which key areas of cooperation were discussed—including industrial cooperation, transportation, logistics, trade, and the implementation of investment projects. Special emphasis was placed on the execution of agreements reached during high-level visits.

Following the setting of strategic priorities, the parties proceeded with the official session of the 16th Intergovernmental Commission. Reports and future plans were presented by heads of ministries and agencies directly responsible for the implementation of Uzbekistan–Iran agreements.

The two sides agreed on joint measures to boost bilateral trade volumes, including through the effective use of preferential trade agreements, the organization of national product exhibitions, and the expansion of e-commerce capabilities.

In terms of investment cooperation, agreements were reached to implement joint projects in sectors such as agriculture, food processing, information technology, chemicals, textiles, and mechanical engineering. Measures were also defined to enhance transport connectivity and streamline the movement of goods between the two countries.

At the conclusion of the meeting, a Final Protocol was adopted.
