Issues of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan in the field of sea and land transport were discussed in Islamabad

Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtayev met with Pakistani Minister of Maritime Affairs Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, the correspondent of “Dunyo” news agency reports.

During the talks, current issues of bilateral industry cooperation were discussed, in particular the creation of terminals in sea and land ports, the implementation of new projects in the transport and logistics sector.

The parties expressed mutual interest in developing relations in all areas, recognizing that joint entry into new markets will help strengthen their share in the global economy. At the same time, the maritime and land transport and logistics sector plays an important role.

Considering that Pakistani seaports are an important geostrategic link in global logistics chains between Asia, Europe and Africa, the issue of opening a special terminal for Uzbek cargo was considered.

The Pakistani Minister of Maritime Affairs supported this initiative and called on Uzbek entrepreneurs to jointly manage the infrastructure – port terminals, storage facilities and customs warehouses in seaports.

A project for the implementation of joint projects with Pakistani partners in the Airit free trade zone in Termez was also worked out in detail, including the creation of a “land port” – a logistics center.

During the conversation, the initiative to develop a joint “road map” in order to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of transport and logistics was also discussed.

In addition, an exchange of views took place on cooperation in the field of economic diplomacy, including projects in fisheries, seafood farming and desalination of seawater.

On these issues, an agreement was reached to continue the dialogue between the official ministries of the two countries, conduct online negotiations and carry out mutual visits.
