The State Palace of Mongolia hosted talks between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of Mongolia Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh in a narrow format and with the participation of official delegations, the press service of the head of our state reports.
At the beginning of the meeting, the head of our state expressed sincere gratitude to the leader of Mongolia for the warm welcome and invitation to visit this country on a return state visit, which was the first in the history of bilateral relations.
It was especially emphasized that the current visit opens a new stage in the development of Uzbek-Mongolian multifaceted ties. The President of Uzbekistan also congratulated the Mongolian side on the upcoming People’s Revolution Day.
The current issues of further development of Uzbek-Mongolian relations of friendship and multifaceted cooperation were discussed.
Contacts and exchanges at all levels have intensified. Trade turnover indicators are growing dynamically. The number of joint ventures is expanding, the first cooperation projects have been launched in the areas of healthcare, education, e-commerce, agriculture, and construction materials production.
The day before, a joint business forum was successfully held with broad participation of business circles and industry departments of the two countries, and a trading house with a showroom of Uzbek products was opened in the city of Ulaanbaatar.
During the negotiations, special attention was paid to deepening economic cooperation.
Significant potential for a multiple increase in mutual trade in the coming years was noted, primarily due to the expansion of the range and volume of supplies of in-demand products.
For these purposes, the importance of accelerating the adoption of agreements on preferential trade and investment protection was emphasized.
The head of our state spoke in favor of deepening industrial cooperation in specific sectors of the economy. A number of promising areas of interaction were identified as priorities.
First of all, this is partnership in the extractive sector, including the development of a geological exploration program, the development of raw material deposits, technology transfer, exchange of experience and personnel training.
In this context, the opening of a representative office of the Ministry of Geology of Uzbekistan in Ulaanbaatar to promote projects in this sector was noted with satisfaction.
Interest was expressed in deepening comprehensive cooperation in agriculture through the creation of joint clusters and promoting cooperation projects in the processing and production of meat, dairy, wool and leather products.
Special attention was paid to strengthening transport connectivity and developing new logistics routes. Plans were outlined to launch direct flights between the capitals by the end of the year.
It was proposed to conduct applied research to determine the shortest and most efficient transport corridors jointly with the International Analytical Institute for Landlocked Countries.
The importance of continuing active cultural and humanitarian exchanges was emphasized. It was noted with satisfaction that Ulaanbaatar is currently hosting Days of Uzbek Culture, art and tourism events.
An agreement was reached on the active development of cooperation between higher education institutions, the resumption of education in universities of Uzbekistan for Mongolian youth within the allocated quotas.
Agreement was reached on the adoption of a “road map” for the timely and high-quality implementation of the agreements reached.
In conclusion, the head of our state invited the President of Mongolia to visit Uzbekistan on a return visit.
