Uzbek-Pakistani business forum was held in Karachi

At the initiative of the Embassy of our country in Pakistan, within the framework of the visit of the delegation of representatives of business circles, organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, the Uzbek-Pakistani business forum was held in the city of Karachi, the correspondent of ‘‘Dunyo’’ news agency reports.

The event was attended by more than 150 Pakistani and 40 Uzbek businessmen working in the chemical, agricultural, textile, leather and wool, pharmaceutical and construction industries.

The forum was opened by the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Alisher Tukhtayev. In his speech, he paid special attention to the measures taken to bring economic relations between the two countries to a new level.

It was noted that under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, an open, modern and favorable environment for investors has been created in Uzbekistan. It was emphasized that the implementation of projects within the framework of the regional connectivity initiative will contribute to improving the well-being of the peoples of both countries.

The Ambassador also noted the need to increase trade volumes, launch joint projects and strengthen cooperation in strategic sectors, and emphasized the significant potential in agriculture, textiles, energy, information technology and digitalization, pharmaceuticals, tourism and logistics.

Speaking at the business forum, the head of the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) Faiz Ahmad emphasized the importance of strengthening ties between entrepreneurs of the two countries and implementing new joint projects.

He noted that the development of business relations will create opportunities for expanding bilateral economic ties, increasing trade volumes to $2 billion, and organizing joint production of import-substituting and export-oriented products.

During the business forum, a number of Uzbek entrepreneurs made presentations, talking about the conditions created in the country for foreign investment and the most promising areas for implementing joint projects.

At the end of the meeting, B2B negotiations were held and new trade agreements were signed in the chemical, textile, leather and wool, construction and agricultural sectors.

In order to continue negotiations and coordinate projects on the spot, an agreement was reached to organize a visit of a delegation of entrepreneurs from the Pakistani province of Sindh to Uzbekistan in August of this year.
