At a meeting with media representatives, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev shared their assessments of the talks, the press service of the head of our state reports.
At the beginning of his speech, the head of our state said that Uzbekistan is sincerely happy about the large-scale transformations and high achievements of Azerbaijan under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev.
– You have fulfilled the long-standing dream of your father and every Azerbaijani – you have restored the territorial integrity of the country. You are actively working to modernize the economy and infrastructure of the returned territories, – the leader of our country noted.
It was emphasized that Azerbaijan is a reliable ally and strategic partner of Uzbekistan. We share common goals, views and aspirations. Our peoples are connected by history, similar values, language and culture, which have always served as the basis for fraternal, trusting relations.
The President of Uzbekistan highly appreciated the fruitful results of the second meeting of the Supreme Interstate Council, following which important decisions and agreements were adopted.
It was noted that serious preparatory work had been carried out for the current summit. The first Inter-Parliamentary Forum, the meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, forums of regions and rectors, political consultations, and a number of cultural events were successfully held.
Particular attention during the negotiations was paid to the full-scale implementation of the Treaty on Allied Relations between the two countries.
The mutual intention to strengthen close contacts and continue mutual support at international venues was confirmed. The coincidence of positions on many pressing global and regional issues was noted. In this context, the head of our state emphasized that Uzbekistan is in favor of resolving all acute problems and conflicts exclusively by peaceful means, through diplomatic efforts.
During the negotiations, agreements were reached on the adoption of joint practical measures to bring the volume of bilateral trade and investment to one billion dollars in the coming years. A separate Program for the promotion of trade and cooperation was adopted.
According to the President, in order to improve the efficiency of the work being carried out, existing cooperation formats will be expanded and new ones launched. The discussion is about holding the Council of Entrepreneurs and the Forum of Industrial and Economic Zones.
The leaders attached particular importance to strengthening transport connectivity. It was emphasized that the Middle Corridor, which connects our countries and allows us to connect to other strategic routes, is currently actively developing. Thus, electronic permits have been launched on this corridor since spring. At the same time, the volume of Uzbek cargo transportation has increased by a quarter. Their annual volume already exceeds one million tons.
Progress was noted in promoting a joint project to export ‘‘green’’ energy to Europe.
In addition, today the construction of the ‘‘Uzbekistan’’ Park in Baku will be launched and a new building of the embassy of our country in Azerbaijan will be opened.
It was noted that in parallel, active preparations are underway for the projects of the future “Azerbaijan” Park and the unique tourist complex “Sea Breeze” in Uzbekistan.
In connection with the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two fraternal countries this year, an agreement was reached on jointly holding major events, concerts and youth forums dedicated to this important date.
In conclusion, the head of our state thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart for supporting joint projects and cooperation programs. He expressed confidence that the results of the current state visit to Azerbaijan will contribute to the further strengthening of allied relations, as well as the goals of sustainable development and prosperity of fraternal countries and peoples.
