The 6th Business Forum of the Economic Cooperation Organization was held in Shusha

In Shusha city (Republic of Azerbaijan), within the framework of the 17th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the 6th business forum was held under the motto ‘‘Promoting investment and trade – a factor in sustainable development in the ECO region’’, the press service of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry reports.

A delegation of business circles of Uzbekistan headed by the Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Davron Vakhabov is taking part in the event.

The forum also includes the President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Azerbaijan Niyaz Alizade, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Investment of Afghanistan Tawakal Ahmadyar, First Deputy Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tajikistan Nasimjon Anvarov, First Vice President of the Union of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey Ali Kopuz, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic Mamasadyk Bakirov, Vice President of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Pakistan Aun Ali Said and the head of the office of the Chamber of Foreign Trade of Kazakhstan Asan Zhakishev.

The Economic Cooperation Organization, created in 1985 by Iran, Pakistan and Turkey, since 1992 also includes the countries of Central Asia and the Caucasus, including Uzbekistan. The main mission of the ECO is to promote sustainable economic growth, trade integration and investment cooperation among the participating countries. The organization implements projects in the fields of trade, transport, energy, tourism, agriculture, ecology, healthcare and education.

In his speech, Davron Vakhabov focused on the priorities of Uzbekistan’s foreign economic policy, increasing regional integration and ongoing economic reforms. He particularly emphasized the importance of developing cooperation between the ECO countries.

As of the end of 2024, the total volume of Uzbekistan’s foreign trade with the ECO member countries exceeded $11 billion, with exports amounting to $5.56 billion and imports to $5.48 billion.

The forum included business meetings in the B2B and B2G formats, where promising projects and new areas of business partnership were discussed.

The forum in Shusha has become a significant platform for deepening economic cooperation and expanding the presence of Uzbek businesses in regional markets.
