The implementation of reforms in the Jizzakh region was considered

On July 7, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the report on the effectiveness of reforms, the progress of work in the districts of the Jizzakh region and the solution of problems of concern to the population, the press service of the head of our state reports.

On December 31 last year, a presidential resolution was adopted on the accelerated socio-economic development of the Jizzakh region, which identified priority measures. In particular, it is planned to attract $2 billion in investments by 2025, increase exports to $285 million and provide employment for 168 thousand people.

These tasks are being implemented in stages. Over the past six months, 200 projects in industry, services and agriculture have been implemented in the region. The inflow of investments amounted to $662 million.

However, Dustlik, Zafarabad, Pakhtakor and Mirzachul districts are significantly behind the regional growth rates. In this regard, the President pointed out the need to place new projects primarily in these districts in order to create jobs.

In recent months, large tourist complexes worth $250 million have been commissioned in the region, resulting in a twofold increase in the flow of tourists. There are all the conditions for further growth of this indicator.

Another important resource is land opportunities. Despite the fact that the region has 1.3 million hectares of agricultural land, only 40 percent of them are used for crops. In addition, the average income per hectare of land is lower than in other regions. With rational use of land, it is possible to significantly increase the production of food and feed for livestock.

At the initiative of the President, a “reform headquarters” was also created in the Jizzakh region, which included representatives of government bodies, industry experts and leading entrepreneurs.

A package of new projects prepared by the headquarters was presented at the meeting. According to the plan, 200 projects with a total cost of $520 million are planned to be implemented. Their implementation will create 12 thousand jobs, provide additional budget revenues in the amount of 120 billion soums and achieve an export potential of 100 million dollars.

The head of state inquired about the economic feasibility and market demand for the projects. It was emphasized that the khokims and the headquarters should act in a coordinated manner, achieving a qualitative leap in industry, agriculture, tourism and the service sector. In this case, the Jizzakh region will become one of the fastest growing regions in terms of investment attraction, job creation, growth of incomes of the population and exports, the meeting said.
