The President was reported on the results and new plans in the Samarkand region

The head of state has been presented information on the results of reforms and new plans for the development of the Samarkand region, the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.

Samarkand is one of the largest regions of the republic in terms of number and growth rates of the population. This means a growing need for housing, infrastructure, workplaces, education and healthcare. Over the past eight years, 1,132 apartment buildings have been built in the region, which has improved the living conditions of 56 thousand families. The coverage of preschool education increased from 21 to 73 percent, higher education – from 10 to 45 percent.

In the economy, the textile industry, metallurgy, electrical sector, the production of building materials and tourism are developing rapidly. The implementation of large projects, the construction and creation of high -profit jobs strengthen the confidence of the population in tomorrow.

The poverty level in the area of the year has decreased from 7.5 to 6.9 percent. By the end of the year, it is planned to employ 150 thousand people and remove 90 thousand citizens from poverty.

Over the past eight years, the volume of industrial production in the region has increased by 1.7 times and exceeded 45 trillion soums. However, 37 percent of this volume falls on the city of Samarkand, and 23 percent on the Dzhamba, Samarkand and Urgut districts. At the same time, in the Kushrabad, Payaryk and Nurabad districts, industry is poorly developed.

On the initiative of the president in the Samarkand region, the headquarters of the reform was also created. During the presentation, information was presented about new projects developed on the basis of offers of entrepreneurs.

So, in the Nurabad district it is proposed to create a special industrial zone on an area of 115 hectares. It is planned to implement investment projects in the amount of $ 472 million and create 1,200 jobs. In the Kushrabad district, the Chinese investor plans to invest $ 40 million in the production and processing of granite stone.

An entrepreneur from Bulungur organized an in vitro laboratory and began creating a seed of seed potatoes. The construction of a biopharmaceutical enterprise worth $ 100 million is planned in the same area.

In general, 14 new projects in the amount of 1 billion 200 million dollars were formed in the region. Their implementation will create 12 thousand jobs and provide export revenue in the amount of $ 82 million.

The President supported these initiatives and gave instructions for accelerated implementation of projects. He emphasized the need for uniform increase in investment attractiveness and export potential of each city and district.
