A meeting took place between the President of Uzbekistan and the Emperor of Japan

On December 19, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev began his official visit to Japan with a meeting with Emperor Naruhito, the press service of the head of our state reports.

Warmly welcoming the head of state, the Emperor of Japan noted that the current visit by the President of Uzbekistan is an important event in the further strengthening of Uzbek-Japanese relations of friendship and strategic partnership.

The leader of our country expressed deep respect and gratitude to Emperor Naruhito for his consistent support of irreversible reforms in the New Uzbekistan.

It was emphasized that despite their geographical distance, the Uzbek and Japanese peoples are united by spiritual affinity, similarities in mentality, customs, and family values, as well as centuries-old historical ties dating back to the time of the Great Silk Road.

The consistent expansion of bilateral cooperation, particularly in education and personnel training, and cultural and humanitarian exchanges, was noted with satisfaction. To date, more than 3,000 Uzbek specialists have completed internships in Japan, and over 440 have received higher education on scholarships. Japanese is taught at seven universities in Uzbekistan.

As part of the current visit, Uzbekistan Culture Days were successfully held in Tokyo. Next year, an archaeological exhibition on the culture and history of Uzbekistan is planned for several Japanese cities.

Following the meeting, the leader of our country invited Emperor Naruhito to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan.
