On February 10, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), led by its President Zou Jiayi, the press service of the head of our state reports.
At the beginning of the meeting, the leader of our country warmly congratulated the head of this prestigious multilateral financial institution on his assumption of office.
Practical issues related to expanding Uzbekistan’s strategic partnership with the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) were discussed in detail.
In recent years, multifaceted cooperation with the bank has been developing dynamically. The portfolio of ongoing and prospective joint projects has exceeded $7 billion. Last year alone, financing volume exceeded $1 billion.
The President of Uzbekistan advocated for expanding productive cooperation in priority areas such as supporting the private sector, women’s and youth entrepreneurship, developing and promoting public-private partnership projects, facilitating the implementation of poverty reduction programs, and developing alternative energy, energy efficiency, water supply, social services, and others.
The importance of the AIIB’s active participation in major regional infrastructure projects was emphasized.
In turn, Zou Jiayi praised the scale of reforms in our country and declared her readiness to continue to fully support the reform program being carried out in New Uzbekistan.
