The President of Uzbekistan discussed expanding multifaceted cooperation with the OSCE

On May 21, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Feridun Sinirlioglu, who arrived in Uzbekistan on an official visit, the press service of the head of our state reports.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the further development of cooperation with the OSCE in the economic, environmental, political, and humanitarian dimensions.

The high level of open and constructive dialogue, as well as the consistent strengthening of Uzbekistan’s interaction with the OSCE and its relevant institutions, were noted with satisfaction. The Organization’s leadership regularly visits Uzbekistan, and OSCE/ODIHR missions actively participate in monitoring electoral processes in the country.

The results of joint projects in the areas of countering transnational threats, reforming the judicial system, promoting gender equality, protecting human rights, and developing the media were particularly noted.

The parties also emphasized the need to further expand cooperation in priority areas such as combating cybercrime, developing digitalization and artificial intelligence, improving human resources, supporting youth, and promoting the green agenda.

An agreement was reached to develop a new roadmap for cooperation and hold a series of joint events in Uzbekistan and at OSCE venues.

An exchange of views on current regional and international issues also took place.
