The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ravshan Usmanov met with Emma Holt, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, the correspondent of Dunyo News Agency reports.
During the talks, Emma Holt noted that Manchester continues to strengthen its position as one of the United Kingdom’s key economic centers, playing an important role as a major hub for trade and investment cooperation as well as transport and logistics infrastructure. She added that these processes are gaining further momentum following the appointment of former Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and the opening of a Prime Minister’s Office presence in Manchester.
During the meeting, construction and development, engineering and manufacturing, information technology, and financial and professional services were identified as the region’s most competitive and promising sectors.
It was noted that the large-scale economic reforms being implemented in Uzbekistan largely correspond with Manchester’s development priorities, creating favorable conditions for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation and implementing joint projects in areas of mutual interest.
Following the meeting, the parties identified priority tasks for expanding practical cooperation with Greater Manchester’s business community, strengthening bilateral business ties, and promoting promising joint projects.
The Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce is the largest chamber in the United Kingdom, uniting around 35,000 enterprises. Its member companies employ more than 700,000 people, accounting for nearly one-third of the region’s total workforce. With a history of more than 230 years, the Chamber provides comprehensive support to entrepreneurship by promoting trade, assisting companies in entering international markets, facilitating business networking, advancing business interests at the level of public policy, and enhancing workforce skills. Each year, the organization hosts more than 150 events involving over 10,000 business representatives and plays an important role in fostering cooperation between companies, government bodies, investors, and international partners.
