President of Uzbekistan received a delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives comprising Congressmen Jason Smith, Greg Murphy, Ronny Jackson and Ed Case, the press service of the head of our state reports.

At the beginning of the meeting, the U.S. lawmakers warmly congratulated the President and people of Uzbekistan on the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence.

The parties discussed further strengthening the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States, as well as developing interparliamentary cooperation.

The positive dynamics of bilateral relations, the high level of political dialogue, and the intensification of contacts and reciprocal visits were noted with satisfaction. During a recent telephone conversation, the leaders of the two countries identified priority areas for further expanding the strategic partnership.

Particular attention was paid to the development of trade and economic cooperation. Since the beginning of this year, bilateral trade has increased by 20 percent. The three-year Economic Cooperation Program is being consistently implemented, providing for the launch and implementation of major projects in energy, critical minerals, transport, agriculture, digital technologies and industry.

The important role of the U.S. Congress in supporting the large-scale reforms underway in Uzbekistan, as well as in promoting constructive and mutually beneficial dialogue between the two countries, was noted.

Particular attention was also paid to expanding interregional cooperation. Readiness was expressed to further develop direct ties and implement joint projects with the states of Missouri, North Carolina, Texas and Hawaii, represented by members of the U.S. delegation.

The parties also exchanged views on current regional and international issues.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to organize reciprocal visits by business delegations.
