The meetings and negotiations held in Lahore open up new horizons for the development of Uzbek-Pakistani cooperation

On February 13-14, representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan took part in the international food exhibition “Food Expo-2023” in the Pakistani city of Lahore, the correspondent of “Dunyo” news agency reports.

Food Expo-2023 is the largest international exhibition held in Pakistan. More than 500 Pakistani (Olper’s, Muree, Dalda Foods) and more than 50 international (Nestle, Coca-Cola, McDonalds) brands took part in the exhibition. Pakistan’s food market is estimated at $15-16 billion.

Within the framework of the exhibition, the potential of the agro-industrial complex and products of Uzbekistan were presented to the participants. Representatives of a number of companies such as NutriFuel, Faizan Food Industries, RafhanMaize expressed their desire to visit Uzbekistan in March to conclude export contracts.

A round table was held in the building of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) with the participation of more than 50 entrepreneurs – members of the chamber. Business representatives were presented with a presentation and detailed information about the investment potential of Uzbekistan, projects implemented in the regions, free economic zones, products of our exporters.

The initiatives put forward by the President of Uzbekistan on cooperation and interconnectedness between Central and South Asia, preferential and transit trade agreements, cooperation in the field of tourism were discussed.

LCCI is the largest (more than 30,000 members) chamber of commerce and industry in Pakistan, bringing together major entrepreneurs in the field of textiles, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, food and chemical industries.

During the event, representatives of the Lahore CCI expressed their desire to organize a visit of their members to Uzbekistan to hold an Uzbek-Pakistani business forum and B2B meetings.

Meetings and negotiations with federal ministers and big businessmen were also held in Lahore, within the framework of which issues of development and expansion of Uzbek-Pakistani cooperation were discussed.

The meetings were attended by former Prime Minister of Pakistan Chowdhry Shujat Hussain, Federal Minister for Investment Council Chaudhry Salik Hussain, Pakistan’s largest entrepreneur and founder of the Nishat Group financial and industrial conglomerate Mian Mansha, President of Sapphire Shahid Abdullah, CEO leading Pakistani company Najeeb Fibers Najib Wahra.
