Turkish Chengiz Enerji plans to expand portfolio of investment projects in Uzbekistan

On March 14 this year, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan between the Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and the Executive Director of the Turkish company Chengiz Enerji Ahmet Cengiz. This was reported by the press service of the MIIT.

The parties considered the results of successfully implemented joint projects and issues of further expansion of investment cooperation in the development of the energy industry of our country.

In particular, the results of the commissioning of modern combined-cycle plants were discussed: in June 2022 in the Tashkent region – with a capacity of 240 MW and in December 2022 in the Syrdarya region – with a capacity of 220 MW.

The head of the Turkish company, emphasizing the success of the joint work, announced the company’s intention to expand the existing portfolio of investment projects in the field of electricity generation. In this context, a project was proposed for the deployment of a 400 MW combined-cycle plant in the Jizzakh region. This initiative will save 286 million cubic meters of gas annually, which is equal to $103 million in monetary terms.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed on a format for further interaction in order to implement the new project.
