The President of Uzbekistan is expected at the second EU-Central Asia summit

Kyrgyzstan announced the holding of the European Union-Central Asia summit in Cholpon-Ata on June 2. It is expected to be attended by the head of the European Council, the presidents of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and the Deputy Prime Minister of Turkmenistan. This was reported by “Gazeta.uz”.

According to the Kyrgyz side, the summit will be attended by the head of the European Council Charles Michel, the presidents of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nurmuhammet Amannepesov.

The state and prospects of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two regions will be discussed, views will be exchanged on topical issues on the international agenda and interaction between the states of Central Asia and the European Union.

In addition, President Sadyr Japarov will hold bilateral meetings with heads of delegations.

Recall that the previous, first in a row, summit of the heads of the European Union and Central Asia was held in Astana on October 27, 2022. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, speaking at it, stated that the global and regional situation requires more active EU support for integration in Central Asia. He also proposed to develop, within this format, a strategic program to deepen trade and economic cooperation and develop transport and communication interconnectedness.
