Next-Generation Pharmaceuticals: Investing in Future Technologies

As part of the 2025 Tashkent International Investment Forum, a panel session titled “Next-Generation Pharmaceuticals: Investing in Future Technologies” was held, the press service of the MIIT reports. The session brought together leading experts, investors, and industry leaders from the global pharmaceutical sector to discuss the prospects of innovative technologies, genetic therapies, and RNA-based treatments.

The event was moderated by Alireza Haghighi, The event was moderated by Alireza Haghighi, scientist and Founding Director and Executive Director of the International Center for Genetic Disease at Harvard Medical School. In his speech, he shared:
“We are focused on partnering with governments worldwide to enhance genomic medicine and precision medicine. We firmly believe that these services should be accessible to everyone, not just the wealthy or fortunate few.”

During the session, Oybek Elmurodov, Deputy to Abdulla Azizov, provided insights on the work of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency:
To briefly introduce our agency, the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, which operates under the Ministry of Health, is responsible for establishing a robust pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan. We also issue GMP, GDP, and GLP certificates to local manufacturers.

Che Sooik also addressed the forum, stating:
I am Che Sooik, representing UniMed in Uzbekistan and the CIS countries. First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the Uzbek government and the President of Uzbekistan for providing us with the opportunity to participate in this forum. I also want to thank the Head of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, Abdulla Azizov, for enabling us to build our factories and contribute to the country’s pharmaceutical industry. Our company, founded in 1991, is now one of the leading pharmaceutical companies in South Korea. We are dedicated to continuous research and development in the pharmaceutical sector, providing the best medicines to ensure the health and safety of people.

The panel highlighted Uzbekistan’s state strategy for the development of the pharmaceutical sector and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a globally competitive pharmaceutical industry.

Experts shared their insights on the development of next-generation medicines, international cooperation in innovative research, and investment opportunities for pharmaceutical startups and scientific research centers.
