On May 14-15 this year, a delegation led by the head of the MIIT, Laziza Kudratov, held a series of joint Uzbek-Slovenian events in Ljubljana, designed to intensify bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation with the business community of this country, the press service of the MIIT reports.
In particular, meetings were held with the Minister of Economy, Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Slovenia, Matjaž Han, the management of SID Bank, bilateral meetings and an extended round table with the heads of large Slovenian companies.
At the meetings, the investment potential of Uzbekistan was presented, untapped resources for the development of industrial cooperation, preferential access to large regional markets and many other aspects of practical cooperation were clearly demonstrated, which can create the basis for effective collaboration between the business circles of the two countries.
The reforms implemented in Uzbekistan were highly appreciated by the Slovenian side at both the government and business levels, and full readiness was expressed to increase the scale of joint work at all points of intersection of interests and opportunities.
A number of agreements were reached to increase mutual trade turnover to 500 million dollars by expanding the range and volume of supplies of textile and fruit and vegetable products, mineral fertilizers, plastics, non-ferrous metals, building materials, pharmaceuticals, industrial equipment and other finished products with high added value.
At the same time, measures were agreed on organizing large clusters for the cultivation of medicinal herbs, joint production of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, and developing joint training programs to improve the qualifications of Uzbek specialists in the field of pharmaceuticals. The parties will accelerate work on signing an intergovernmental agreement on organized labor migration to send nurses and doctors from Uzbekistan to work.
