The leaders of Uzbekistan and Pakistan discussed current issues on the bilateral strategic partnership agenda

As a part of the program of events for the Economic Cooperation Organization summit, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held negotiations with the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan led by Prime Minister Anwar ul-Haq Kakar. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.

Topical issues of further deepening bilateral cooperation were discussed, primarily in the trade, economic, investment and transport and communications spheres.

Active contacts at different levels were noted with satisfaction. The volumes of mutual trade turnover and cargo transportation are growing – these figures have increased by 40 percent since the beginning of the year. Cooperation projects are being implemented in the textile, chemical, pharmaceutical and other industries. 20 joint ventures have been created.

The importance of the early adoption of the Industrial Cooperation Program for 2024-2025, the elimination of trade barriers and the creation of favorable conditions for the development of business ties was emphasized.

Particular attention is paid to the practical implementation of the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project.

An exchange of views on issues on the regional agenda also took place.
