The leaders of Uzbekistan and Pakistan summed up the results of fruitful negotiations

At a meeting with representatives of the media, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif shared their assessments of the negotiations, the press service of the head of our state reports.

At the beginning of his speech, the head of our state especially noted the fruitful results of the meetings, emphasizing that the current historic visit opens a new page in the Uzbek-Pakistani strategic partnership.

The President of Uzbekistan highly appreciated the dynamic development of bilateral cooperation in recent years. The volume of trade has exceeded 400 million dollars, 130 joint ventures have been created, trading houses have been opened in Karachi and Tashkent. Flights between Tashkent and Lahore have been resumed.

The Intergovernmental Commission is working effectively, political consultations, a number of business events and the industrial exhibition of Uzbekistan were fruitful.

– These days, a solid delegation of leading companies from Pakistan is visiting our capital. Today we will hold a separate meeting with businesses and discuss joint plans, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted.

It was emphasized that during the high-level talks, the parties identified new growth points for multifaceted cooperation and agreed to create the Supreme Council for Strategic Partnership.

The focus was on issues of dramatically increasing the volume and expanding the range of mutual trade, strengthening industrial cooperation, developing transport connectivity, supporting and creating favorable conditions for business.

The importance of promoting projects in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, agricultural machinery, geology and mineral resources, textile, leather and other industries with the export of finished products to third-country markets was emphasized.

The leaders agreed to continue close contacts and mutual support within the framework of global and regional structures, including the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and others.

The closeness of positions on the peaceful development of Afghanistan and the diplomatic settlement of the Palestinian issue was confirmed.

Along with this, mutual interest was expressed in expanding cooperation in the field of security, combating terrorism, transnational crime, drug trafficking and other modern threats.

Particular attention during the talks was paid to the development of cultural, humanitarian and tourist exchanges. Agreements were reached on the mutual holding of cultural and art festivals, increasing tourist flows, including within the framework of the Umrah Plus program.

In conclusion, it was emphasized that for the timely and high-quality implementation of the agreements reached and signed agreements, the governments of the two countries will adopt a comprehensive ‘road map’.
