Ambassador of Uzbekistan Karomiddin Gadoev held a meeting with the Managing Director of ‘‘Pharmaniaga Berhad’’ Zulkifli Jafar, the correspondent of ‘‘Dunyo’’ news agency reports.
The meeting discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of pharmaceutical production in Uzbekistan.
During the conversation, Zulkifli Jafar said that ‘‘Pharmaniaga Berhad’’ was one of the first in Malaysia to establish the production of insulin according to halal standards for patients with diabetes. This insulin is supplied to public health institutions by order of the Malaysian government. He also noted that the company has introduced a system of free distribution of insulin drugs among people with diabetes in the country.
In addition, the Managing Director of ‘‘Pharmaniaga Berhad’’ emphasized that, within the framework of cooperation with the Agency for the Development of the Pharmaceutical Industry of Uzbekistan, the prospects for organizing joint production of a number of drugs in our country are being considered.
The Malaysian side expressed interest in organizing the production of halal insulin at the ‘‘Tashkent Pharma Park’’ pharmaceutical cluster in partnership with Uzbek companies. It was noted that at the first stage, the company is ready to bring the necessary technologies from Malaysia to organize production using halal standards at the existing capacities of pharmaceutical enterprises in Uzbekistan. At subsequent stages, it is planned to invest in the development of this business.
‘‘Pharmaniaga Berhad’’, founded in 1994, has four pharmaceutical manufacturing plants in Malaysia, a research center, a logistics company, enterprises engaged in the supply of medical products and services, as well as the sale and marketing of medical products. In addition, the company operates three plants in Indonesia, and its total staff exceeds 3,400 people.
