On February 15 this year, as part of the second day of the stay of the working group of Uzbekistan in the United Arab Emirates, the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov held meetings with the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies – Chairman of the Board of Masdar UAE Sultan Ahmed Al-Jaber and heads of a number of leading UAE companies, the press service of MIIT reports. On the agenda is the expansion of areas of investment cooperation and the joint implementation of new major projects in priority sectors of the economy.
Thus, with Sultan Ahmed al-Jaber, the progress of the implementation of current projects and plans for the implementation of new investment initiatives in the chemical industry, metallurgy and geological exploration were discussed.
At a meeting with the General Director of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Mohammed Haji Al Khouri, the ongoing project for the construction of a clinic for women and children in Nukus was noted. The prospects for the construction of similar hospitals in the cities of Karshi and Tashkent, as well as the introduction of a universal hearing screening system for newborns in Uzbekistan were considered.
Issues of implementation of joint projects in the healthcare sector, as well as energy and other industries of Uzbekistan were discussed with the Chief Executive Officer of the International holding company Syed Basar Shueb. The parties agreed to organize a visit by the management and experts of the company in order to get acquainted with the investment potential of our country and conclude specific agreements on the implementation of joint initiatives.
During the meeting with the CEO of ADSSC A. Shamsi, the focus was on the implementation of a project to improve the wastewater system in Tashkent on the principles of PPP. It provides for the construction of modern engineering structures. The draft of the corresponding investment proposal is planned for signing in the spring of this year.
The industrial potential of Uzbekistan in the direction of production of building materials was considered in detail during a meeting with the Executive Director of RAK Ceramics A. Massad.
An agreement was reached to start working on a project for the production of export-oriented products, in particular, tiles and ceramics.
The meetings allowed the participants to identify points of convergence of interests and outline plans for the development of cooperation with an emphasis on practical results, meaning the implementation of promising investment projects, the improvement of social infrastructure and the creation of new jobs.
