On December 15, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade with a Japanese delegation consisting of M. Uchida, Managing Executive Director of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), R. Yusu, President of Kyuden International, and T. Nishikawa, Chief Operating Officer of Sojitz Corporation.
During the meeting, issues of further acceleration of the practical implementation of the project “Construction of a 1600 MW combined-cycle power plant in the Syrdarya region by a consortium of EDF (France), Nebras Power (Qatar), Sojitz Corporation and Kyuden International (Japan) were discussed.
Representatives of Japanese companies expressed their gratitude for their assistance in promoting the project and announced plans to start construction and installation work from February 2023.
In turn, the JBIC management announced the Bank’s readiness to provide funding, emphasizing that this project is the first in Uzbekistan, implemented without providing a sovereign guarantee.
During the meeting, the prospects for joint implementation of PPP projects with Sojitz Corporation and Kyuden International in the fields of renewable energy, hydrogen energy, chemistry and healthcare were also discussed.
