A meeting with the Director for Development of the Malaysian company ‘‘TNB Power Generation Sdn. Bhd.’’ (“TNB Genco”) Shahrir Abdul Latif was held at the Embassy of Uzbekistan, the correspondent of ‘‘Dunyo’’ news agency reports.
The company “TNB Genco” has the largest capacity for generating electricity in Malaysia. In 2023, this company accounted for 51.1 percent of the electricity generated in the country.
During the meeting, the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector of Uzbekistan were discussed. It was emphasized that there are a number of opportunities for cooperation in the implementation of promising projects in the field of renewable energy, especially wind and hydropower.
An exchange of views also took place on cooperation in the field of transmission, distribution and delivery of electricity to consumers, engineering and technical maintenance of power plants.
The Malaysian side acknowledged that today Uzbekistan has great opportunities in the field of “green” energy. It was noted that the submitted proposals will be studied by the company’s specialists and appropriate decisions will be made based on the results.
‘‘TNB Genco’’ was founded in 2019 by ‘‘Tenaga Nasional Berhad’’. In Malaysia, the company owns 3 hydroelectric power plants, 6 gas turbine power plants and 3 coal power plants, as well as 2 port terminals. They employ more than 3,400 people. The company’s wind and solar power plants operate in Pakistan, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and the UK.
